Chapter 6 - Runaway

Come with me!’ Thyra said harshly to Kaldaka. Kaldaka loosened her cloak and rose to her feet. Her eyes looked dull, inside she was crying out in pain. She felt that she could lay down and die anytime now. ‘Kaldaka!’ Kaldaka hurried over behind her mother. She saw her dropping her whip and picked it up. Then she began lashing herself with it.

‘Look Kaldaka, it’s your human! You there,’ she said, pointing at the red-haired darkelf, ‘Catch him.’ The darkelf nodded and began running towards Markus. Kaldaka wanted to yell to warn Markus, but she couldn’t. Her voice wouldn’t obey her.

She saw the darkelf grab Markus’ arm. Markus pushed him down and ran all that he could towards the forest. ‘He’s a coward.’ Thyra said. Kaldaka bit her lip, she really wanted to give back an answer.

The darkelven stranger and his men attacked Thyra. Kaldaka saw that this was her only chance. The second her mother looked away, she ran all she could towards the forest near the edge of the realm.
